Dear NAAAN community,
We are excited to announce a new chapter of engagement, collaboration, and work across our three countries. More than three years ago at the public launch of the North American Agricultural Advisory Network (NAAAN) at the World Food Prize, I spoke of the rich history of nearly 200 years of engagement around agriculture and rural advisory services between our three countries across civil wars, revolutions, global conflicts, and societal upheavals.
Since the launch of the NAAAN, we have continued this legacy of collaboration, as we have held convenings, appointed leadership, published research, learned about the unique landscapes of extension across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, held a global meeting, and grown the NAAAN Community to more than 1,000 members.
The NAAAN dares to answer the question of how you take three different heritages, historical investments, and approaches toward feeding the next generation, bring them together, find common ground, and do something synergistically.
Looking toward the future of the NAAAN – and the next 200 years of agriculture across our three countries – climate change, managing natural disasters, and building the next generation of agricultural leadership will play critical roles in what it looks like to feed the world. As we turn to solve these issues, we can look to the history of human civilization, with progress around great global challenges always being made by one generation turning to the next, asking for their help, and human creativity making progress.
In the spirit of human creativity, today, we are excited to announce NAAAN CONNECT. This platform will allow us to better connect across the continent as we implement new programmatic activities, collaborations, research, and initiatives. Designed as a community for extension and rural advisory services experts, practitioners, researchers, and those interested in agriculture across Canada, Mexico, and the United States to engage with one another, NAAAN CONNECT will help us answer the question of how we ensure the vibrant agricultural communities of North America continue to work together for our shared food security.
We invite you to join us, and we look forward to seeing you online at NAAAN CONNECT.
