CONSUL AND SENIOR TRADE COMMISSIONER AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF CANADA IN DENVER
Sean Clark currently serves as Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada. Prior to arriving in Denver, he spent three years as Director of the Trade Agreements Secretariat at Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa. In this role, he was responsible for three units: one that lead the development of Canada’s inclusive trade policy agenda; the implementation and administration of Canada’s in-force Free Trade Agreements such as the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA); as well as the Secretariat for dispute settlement under USMCA and CPTPP. Previous roles include: Deputy Chief Negotiator for the Canada-MERCOSUR trade agreement; Deputy Director of the Secretariat for the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement; Deputy Director Service Trade Policy Division; Second Secretary (Trade Policy) at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C.; and Senior Officer in the Intellectual Property Trade Policy Division in Ottawa. Before he joined the Department, he served as a political advisor to the Minister of International Trade from 2004-2006 and as a trade consultant to American and Brazilian steel companies involved in anti-dumping investigations led by Canada’s Border Services Agency from 1998-2004.
